Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Movie Review in English
In the vast Luv Ranjan portfolio of films, 'Tu Jhooti Main Makkar' is a refreshing and modern take on relationships that tackles topics like Mumma's/Dadis boys, independent career-oriented women, and their choices after marriage. The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, and though it takes an entire first half to get to the point, it becomes more comic, entertaining, and worth the length of the film in the post-interval.
Ranbir plays a suave, rich, and bratty character who executes a breakup almost like a show assisted by Anubhav Singh Bassi. Closeups on his shoes, sunglasses, mouth as his persona is revealed until he makes a grand entrance outside Farzi Cafe in Cyber Hub, in Gurugram. Soon after the perfectly choreographed breakup, the title card of the film is played, and the opening sequence song 'Pyaar Hota Kayi Baar Hai' shows off Ranbir's excellent dancing skills.

The movie has its dull moments and incoherent writing in the first 40 minutes, until Shraddha is introduced in a dance song, and things begin to get clearer. The chemistry between the lead pair is good, but the dialogues ruin it for the most part of flirting episodes, and Shraddha is left to imagine funny jokes to crack up at nonsensical situations.
Ranbir Kapoor is in his best form, but the film cannot be counted among his better works. However, Shraddha is at her A-game in all her dance numbers and outdoes herself in the last song of the film: 'Show Me The Thumka'. Dimple Kapadia suits her part perfectly and plays an ideal mother and later mother-in-law in the most unrealistic manner possible.
Despite its flaws, 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar' is a refreshing and modern take on relationships, and it's a step forward from the obvious misogyny template used in Luv Ranjan's earlier films.

Oh my my, Ranbir Kapoor is absolutely killing it in his latest performance! He's dipped his toes in romcoms before, but this time around he's in a whole other league. And let me tell you, when it comes to those emotional scenes, he's simply outstanding. As for Shraddha Kapoor, she's just blown me away with her first-rate acting skills! This role was super challenging, but she manages to pull it off with ease. And let's not forget, she looks absolutely smoking hot as always.

Anubhav Singh Bassi is a total delight as the sidekick, and his role is just as important as anyone else's. Monica Chaudhary, on the other hand, is just okay. But Dimple Kapadia as Mickey's mother, Renu, is downright adorable! Especially in the second half of the movie. As for Boney Kapoor, well, let's just say he's a bit underwhelming. We were expecting a lot from him, but he doesn't have much to do here.

Hasleen Kaur as Mickey's sister Minny definitely leaves a mark. Inayat Verma as Mickey's niece Sweetu is just too cute for words, and she'll have you cracking up in some scenes. The same goes for Jatinder Kaur as Mickey's grandmother. Now, Rajesh Jais, Ayesha Raza, Amber Rana, and Rahul Vohra, unfortunately, don't get to do much with their roles and feel like they're wasted.
