This movie went above and beyond all of my expectations. Firstly, I grew up in Florida and the director captured the mood so authentically that I could actually feel the humidity on my skin and the anxiety of impending riff raff at every turn.
This film is PERFECTLY CAST, down to the non speaking roles. The performances are authentic, dimensional and pitch perfect. You even end up rooting for the despicable people in the film because you want them to do better, you want them to see their own self worth but for one reason or another they can't break their own destructive cycle. Truly great cinema.
